There are some moments in business that make you stop and think, how is this actually happening? – and this was definitely one of them.
I still canโt quite believe that I was trusted to create a piece for Oprah.
When I first heard got the enquiry I was nervous and so excited (and probably a little bit in shock!). As a small Irish business, working from my little pink studio here in Limerick, opportunities like this mean so much to me.
I poured so much love into creating this piece. Every flower was carefully pressed and placed by hand, just as I do with every piece that leaves my studio. There is something really special about knowing that something Iโve created in my little studio in Limerick is now connected to someone like Oprah.
I picked her favourite flower – a peony rose and used beautiful gypsophila to represent the millions of lives she has impacted and inspired. Thatโs the thing I love most about what I do. Creating art to capture peoples stories.
Every flower was carefully pressed and placed by hand, just as I do with every piece that leaves my studio.
What started with me pressing flowers at home has grown into a business I could never have imagined when I began. Iโve been so lucky to work with so many incredible brides and families over the years, but getting the opportunity to create this piece was a very special moment for me personally.
Iโm also so grateful for the lovely coverage the piece received, including features in The Independent, The Irish Post and the Limerick Leader. Seeing my work being shared and talked about like that is something I never take for granted and makes a huge difference as I am growing Pressed Flowers by Nell.
Behind every piece is me – a small business owner, an artist, and a girl from County Clare who absolutely loves flowers and of course a lot of love from those who came before me, from my beautiful Nana Nancy who taught me my love for flowers and her granny who taught her to always make time to admire nature.
Iโm incredibly proud of how far Pressed Flowers by Nell has come, and moments like this remind me to stop, take it all in and appreciate just how lucky I am to do what I love every single day.
So, Oprah… thank you for giving me another little pinch-me moment. ๐ค
And to everyone who has supported my business along the way – whether youโve trusted me with your wedding flowers, ordered a gift, shared my work, left a review or simply followed along – I am immensely grateful to you.
Hereโs to seeing where the flowers take us next… ๐ธ
With love,
Nell x
